Welcome Baby Sussex

Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of their son. The boy, whose name is yet to be announced was born at 5.26 on Monday, weighing in at 7lb 3oz. Seventh in line to the throne, he is the Queen's eighth great grandchild.

Whilst the Royal Family are celebrating, the same certainly cannot be said of the main political parties after their disastrous results in the local elections. Both the Conservatives and Labour parties lost heavily as the electorate expressed it's lack of confidence in either of the major players. The Liberal Democrats profited most from the situation gaining more than 600 seats, primarily from Conservative held wards.  The Green Party had one of their best ever local election results and Independent candidates also made unusually large gains.

Pressure is building on both Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn to step down after what is seen to be a clear lack of faith in either party from the voters.  However, whilst Brexit remains unresolved it is hard to see how either party can regain support.

Can the Conservative and Labour parties salvage the situation or will we be looking at the birth of a new political power?
