With Christmas just days away it can seem hard to find reasons to be merry and bright this year. With the headlines full of fears of another lockdown, rising interest rates and declining confidence in the government you could be forgiven for thinking there are just too many obstacles to overcome to succeed.
However on Saturday night 11 million people watched the inspirational Rose Ayling-Ellis become the first deaf person to win Strictly Come Dancing. In an emotionally charged evening, Rose and her partner Giovanni reprised their Couples Choice routine, which included a 20 second segment without music as a tribute to the deaf community and an illustration of how people with a hearing impairment can still dance to music. In a beautiful and uplifting way, Rose proved that with enough determination and hard work you can achieve amazing things.
