Shift to a Low Carbon Economy

As the world turns its attention to the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) small businesses should consider what they can do in their business to take positive action to combat climate change.

At The Accounts Place we are passionate about helping the environment and strive to adhere to the motto  'Be Green and Keep it on the Screen'  We are also delighted that our partner, Xero is  committed to evolving every function of their business to consider short, medium and long term risks and opportunities around climate change. They have been a carbon neutral company since 2019.

Every business owner should be doing the same and weighing up their own climate related risks and opportunities. Look for resources provided by your local  government and explore what actions other businesses in your industry have taken to address specific issues and think about how you can incorporate them  into your own business. You can also sign up to The UK Business Climate Hub https://smeclimatehub.org/uk/  and commit to cutting your carbon emissions in half by 2030 and to reach 'net zero' by 2050, meaning that you are putting no more carbon into the atmosphere that you are taking out of it.

No matter how small your business or what industry you are in you can make a real difference - to the planet, to your customers and to your running costs.
